BACKGROUND:

The City’s original funding agreement for Florida’s Coordinated Opioid Recovery (CORe) Program services was with the Florida Department of Health in Marion County (DOH) which allowed the City of Ocala, through Ocala Fire Rescue (OFR), to provide overdose patients with medication-assisted treatment (MAT) and other specialized emergency medical services (EMS). The medication was funded through an agreement with Lutheran Services. The DOH agreement expired on June 30, 2023. Lutheran Services then provided additional funds to continue to provide the same level of program services.

The City’s CORe Program services will continue to be funded through Lutheran Services Florida, Inc.

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:

The proposed amendment reduces the current grant contract amount by $320 due to unused funding for medication. The history of the purchase orders and amendments is provided in the chart below.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Lutheran Services Florida, Inc. will continue to reimburse the City of Ocala based on invoices submitted quarterly. Funds will continue to be applied to revenue account 001-337-000-000-07-33724. The expenditure accounts will remain, crossing several object codes in 001-051-900-*.
