BACKGROUND:

A portion of NW 33rd Avenue between SR 27 and NW 10th Street has existed as just an unpaved lane for several years. A few years ago, the City applied slag to the surface of the road to provide a more stable route. The route includes access to several homes and is a direct route from US 27 to the County Jail complex.

Over the past few years, the parcels on both sides of the north portion of the existing route have been acquired by the 1001 NE 77th Land Trust (approximately 745 ft.). To properly develop their property and provide FDOT preferred access to US 27 aligning with NW 33rd Avenue on the north side of the highway, the owners have offered to donate a 60 ft. wide parcel through the length of the property.

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:  The ROW donation will provide legal access and development opportunities to other properties to the south. The proposed donation is consistent with FDOT’s access management plan.

FISCAL IMPACT:  The City is not obligated to upgrade the road.

PROCUREMENT REVIEW: N/A

LEGAL REVIEW: The contract was reviewed and approved for form and legality by the City Attorney, Robert W. Batsel, Jr.
