BACKGROUND:

The City of Ocala Water Resources Department utilizes Duke Energy, Inc. (Duke) for electric services at various lift stations, the Perry Sprayfield in Belleview, and automated meter reading (AMR) locations throughout the City.

 

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:

Fiscal Year 2021-2022 expenditures for electrical services totaled $75,253.88.  Expenditures for Fiscal Year 2022-2023 totaled $95,500.34 due to increasing utility costs.  Staff projects that expenditures for Fiscal Year 2023-2024 will total $140,000. Expenditures will be tracked under Contract No.: WRS/240111.

Staff recommends approval.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

Fiscal Year 2023-24 funds for the yearly operating expenses are budgeted in the following account strings:

PROCUREMENT REVIEW:

Purchases for services from a utility whose rates are determined and controlled by a public services commission or other governmental authority, to include electricity, natural gas, water, cable, and telephone services are exempted from competition under the City’s Procurement Policy.
