STAFF RECOMMENDATION (Motion Ready):
title
Public Education Foundation of Marion County Grant Application
end

body
BACKGROUND:
The Public Education Foundation of Marion County requested a $2,500 OMAC grant to support the expanded Ocala Film Derby program, which now includes middle school students and South Marion High School. The Derby is a five-day educational film-making event that offers workshops, industry interaction, and a student competition. The organization is a registered 501(c)(3) and has previously received OMAC funding.
OMAC had $800 available. There would be an additional $8,000 becoming available on October 1, 2026. Staff recommended approving the full $2,500 request by splitting the award across both fiscal periods, similar to a previous funding approach used in 2024 for India Fest. OMAC approved on September 2, 2026. $800 was provided to the Public Education Foundation on September 25, 2026.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
With the new fiscal year, OMAC will confirm the previously approved funds of $1,700 will be distributed to the Public Education Foundation, completing their $2,500 grant request.
