BACKGROUND:
The City of Ocala's Fleet Management Department is responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of vehicles essential to public safety and daily operations, including those used by law enforcement, public works, and general vehicles and equipment. Ensuring timely and reliable vehicle repairs requires ready access to high-quality replacement parts that meet original equipment manufacturer (OEM) standards.

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
The Parts House, an authorized distributor, supplies OEM and approved aftermarket parts for both General Motors and Ford. The company is a vendor under Sourcewell Contracts No. 080124-FMC and 080124-GNL, which were competitively solicited and awarded in compliance with public procurement standards. By utilizing this cooperative purchasing contract, the City can acquire the necessary parts more efficiently, avoid duplicative local solicitations, and take advantage of favorable, pre-negotiated pricing.
As a political subdivision of the state of Florida, the City of Ocala qualifies as an eligible user of Sourcewell Agreements No. 080124-FMC and 080124-GNL. Cooperative purchasing programs are comprised of member cities, counties, and other public agencies nationwide who aggregate their members' purchasing power to achieve greater volume discounts. The underlying solicitations for the foregoing cooperative purchasing agreements has been evaluated and determined by the City's Procurement Department to be cost-effective and to afford best value.
