BACKGROUND:
On December 05, 2024, the Ocala Police Department was advised that the City of Ocala qualified for a direct allocation of $36,531 in funding under the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program for Fiscal Year 2024-25. This continuation grant provides critical funding to support the ongoing implementation of community policing initiatives and educational programs, building on the successes achieved through previous grant awards.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
Funding will be used to provide overtime for the officers participating in programs that offer opportunities for positive engagement with the community, training, and classroom supplies.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The City will receive $36,531 in grant funding to assist the police department with this program. Expenses will be tracked in accounts 001-060-881-521-52-14010, 001-060-881-521-52-47000, and 001-060-881-521-52-52010. No match is required. However, all other benefits/residual expenses will be absorbed by the participating units' and sections' respective home accounts.
