BACKGROUND:

Applicant: Saving Mercy Corporation
Property Owner: Saving Mercy Corporation
Agent: Chuck Pigeon
The property located at Parcel #22817-000-00 is undergoing redevelopment as Mercy Village, which will feature 59 apartments and ten duplexes. To facilitate this project, the property owner has submitted a request to vacate the parcel from the West End Ocala Plat, originally platted in 1892. The plat spans areas of West Ocala on both sides of I-75.
The requested vacation is essential to ensure a clear title for the redevelopment effort. This is a common practice, as the city and county have previously vacated parcels within the plat to address similar redevelopment needs.
The Planning and Zoning Commission approved the request on January 13, 2025, by a vote of five to zero.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS: All utilities and easements for the property have been appropriately addressed in the approved site plan for Mercy Village or will be during construction. This action aligns with the city's commitment to support affordable housing initiatives while ensuring compliance with all regulatory and planning requirements.
