BACKGROUND:
On October 5, 2024, Tropical Storm Milton strengthened into a hurricane before landfall on Florida's Coast. On October 5, 2024, President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. approved an emergency declaration for Florida. On October 5, 2024, Governor Ron DeSantis approved Executive Order 24-214, declaring a statewide emergency due to Hurricane Milton. Furthermore, on October 6, 2024, Marion County requested a declaration of state of local emergency due to the threat of harm to human life and property from the possible impact of Hurricane Milton.

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) approved the City of Ocala, for all reimbursement categories due to Hurricane Milton.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The City of Ocala incurred costs due to Hurricane Milton. FEMA and the Florida Department of Emergency Management intend to reimburse the City of Ocala for approximately $1,373,179. Costs for the event were captured in division 964 across multiple funds.
PROCUREMENT REVIEW:
These goods and services were procured in compliance with the City's procurement policy.
LEGAL REVIEW:
This Agreement has been/will be reviewed and approved for form and legality by City Attorney, William E. Sexton.
