BACKGROUND:

The Ocala Fiber Network (OFN) Administration facility houses critical communications infrastructure, operational equipment, City-owned vehicles, and materials essential to network maintenance and service delivery. The property currently lacks a continuous perimeter barrier, leaving it vulnerable to unauthorized access, theft, and vandalism.

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:

On January 3, 2023, City Council approved the award of an Agreement for Citywide Fencing Services to Charles White Fence, Inc. for a term of two (2) years, from January 4, 2023 to January 3, 2025 with an initial expenditure over the contract term of $196,451.80.  On February 20, 2025, the City entered into a First Amendment to Agreement for Citywide Fencing Services with Charles White Fence, Inc. extending the agreement for the first of two available one (1) year renewal terms, from January 4, 2025 to January 3, 2026.

To enhance security and safeguard City infrastructure, the Facilities Department recommends installing a perimeter security fence around the OFN Administration property.

Staff recommends the approval of additional expenditures in the amount of $45,857 to contract COO/220888.
