BACKGROUND:

Former board members Tanya Walker and Ire Bethea, Sr. resigned in May 2020, creating two vacancies for terms that expired March 1, 2021.  These terms renewed for three-year terms ending March 1, 2024, and remained vacant.  The current vacancies are terms ending March 1, 2027.

The membership qualifications on this board require a majority of the membership to be citizens of the City.  Presently, there are three vacancies, and a total of six applicants.  Two of the applicants are citizens of the City.  Currently on this seven-member board, there are two City of Ocala citizens, and two Marion County citizens.  The board requires appointment of two additional citizens of the City to meet the majority requirement.

Reinaldo Mercado and Lisa Rice, both City of Ocala citizens, have submitted their applications for appointment for unexpired three-year terms ending March 1, 2027.

The vacancies were advertised on the City’s website.
