BACKGROUND:
On March 20, 2026, the Ocala Police Department was notified that the City of Ocala qualified for a direct allocation in the amount of $36,883 from the Bureau of Justice Assistance, Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG). The grant focuses on community policing and education.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
Funding will be used to pay overtime for the officers participating in programs that offer opportunities for positive engagement with the community, training, and classroom supplies. Staff recommends approval of this grant allocation.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The city will receive $36,883 in grant funding. This funding will be appropriated in a future budget resolution in account 001-060-844-521-52-*, under MUNIS contract # 260677. No match is required; however, any additional benefit costs shall be absorbed by the city.
