BACKGROUND:
The Ocala Police Department (OPD), Code Enforcement, and Recreation and Parks have been utilizing Getac video systems since 2020. Getac in-car and body-worn camera systems record police officers’ interactions with citizens and responses to emergency and non-emergency calls for service. Supervisors can access the recordings through a web browser to review videos and evidence, manage cases, and ensure proper data retention. Getac is cloud-hosted, allowing partner agencies to access videos efficiently and eliminating the need for labor- and time-intensive requests for video files.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
The Ocala Police Department requests approval to proceed with renewal of the maintenance, hosting, and support for its Getac video systems. Renewing the contract will ensure that OPD has current licensing and support for the software and equipment. The Getac system is constantly operational and, as such, requires premium support, including timely receipt of software updates and new technologies.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding for these purchases was approved as part of the Fiscal Year 2026-27 Police Department Budget Plan, and $229,279 is budgeted in the expenditure account 001-018-811-521-52-52045. This purchase will be tracked under Munis contract number 261035.
The previous one-year contract was approved on November 18, 2025, with a total expenditure of $229,280.
