BACKGROUND:
The City of Ocala provides housing rehabilitation assistance to low-income homeowners. The Consolidated Plan approved by the Department of Housing and Urban Development includes rehabilitation of owner-occupied housing for income-qualified applicants. Evaluation of the home located on NE 15th Avenue revealed guest bathroom existing soaking tub was installed with sheetrock material. The existing material must be removed and replaced with treated material that’s waterproof. All repairs will address health and safety needs for the homeowner.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
This rehabilitation is for a low-income-qualified family with a disabled child. Costs for this project were solicited using the City’s procurement processes and in accordance with grant and program guidelines.
On December 21, 2021 an invitation to bid ITB#CDS/190415C was solicited for rehabilitation of the home. The bid closed on December 29, 2021 resulting in receipt of one bid. The bid was submitted by Bruce Wayne Wiley, LLC located in Ocala, FL for $49,438. During the course of rehabilitation, additional work was required at a cost of $943, increasing the total project cost to $50,381.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding in the amount of $50,381 will come from CDBG account number 346-060-644-554-55-34010

The contract will be reviewed and approved for form and legality by City Attorney, Robert W. Batsel, Jr.
