BACKGROUND:

On April 17, 2023, the parties began negotiating the terms of a three-year Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).  On July 11, 2023, a tentative agreement was reached.  The IAFF Local 2135 held a ratification vote August 21-23, 2023, and the proposed CBA was approved by a vote of 100 for and seven against.

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:

A tentative agreement has been reached and the IAFF Local 2135 has ratified the CBA.  Staff recommends council approval of the proposed agreement.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The three-year cumulative cost associated with this agreement is estimated at $10.8 million. The cost for Fiscal Year 2023-2024 has been incorporated into the proposed 2023-24 budget.  The remaining cost will be budgeted in the fiscal year in which it is incurred.
