BACKGROUND:
The Public Works Sanitation Division is requesting approval of the first amendment to contract No.: PWD/230807 with Lewis Steel Works, Inc. for the provision of front-loading steel waste containers (dumpsters). This contract will allow the City to maintain its inventory of dumpsters at levels necessary to replace those that are no longer serviceable; to service special events; and to meet the changing needs of our commercial customers. As new front-loading steel dumpsters are placed in service, Public Works will purchase additional dumpsters to replenish inventory. Additionally, growth in the commercial market has necessitated an increase in the number of containers in our inventory.

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
On January 26, 2024, the City issued Invitation to Bid (ITB) No.: PWD/230807 for front-loading steel waste containers. Lewis Steel Works, Inc., was the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. On April 16, 2024, the City Council approved the award of a two-year contract for the provision of front-loading steel containers. The award included two optional, one-year renewal periods.

Staff recommends approval of the first amendment to the agreement for the first one-year renewal with Lewis Steel Works Inc., from April 17, 2026, through April 16, 2027. There is no line-item price increase for this renewal period.

FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding for this contract has been budgeted for Fiscal Year 2025-26 in account 453-023-325-534-53-52010 in the amount of $160,417. Funding for this contract will be budgeted for Fiscal Year 2026-27 in account 453-023-325-534-...
