BACKGROUND:
The Police Trust and Agency Fund was created to deposit revenues received from federal, criminal, administrative, or civil forfeiture proceedings. The Ocala Police Department recently retired one of its drug detection dogs which necessitates the acquisition of a new drug detection dog.

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
The Ocala Police Department's acquisition of specialized single-purpose K-9 with drug detection capabilities will enhance both public and police safety by assisting officers with open-air drug sniffs, parcel interdiction, and locating drugs associated with criminal activity. Staff recommends approval.

FISCAL IMPACT:
The transfer of funds will enable the agency to utilize the accumulated funds in 610-018-808-521-68-67010 (Collections/Other Fixed Asset) to purchase a single-purpose K-9.
