BACKGROUND:
Pursuant to the Code of Ordinances City of Ocala Florida, Article II, Section 2.17, all appointments of city officials made by the City Council as authorized by the charter shall be made at the second meeting in October of even-numbered years and shall be for a term of two (2) years commencing the following November 1. Further, in accordance with the requirements of Section 2.08, of the Charter of the City of Ocala, Florida and by letter dated October 1, 2024, the Honorable Benjamin Marciano, Mayor of the City of Ocala, Florida has nominated Michael T. Balken as Chief of Police for the City of Ocala, Florida.
