BACKGROUND:
Ocala Fire Rescue is required by Florida Statute 401.265 to have a licensed medical director to provide medical oversight for the paramedics and emergency medical technicians. The medical director is also responsible for signing off on all paramedics before they can act as paramedics with Ocala Fire Rescue.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
Pursuant to Procurement Policy No. PRO-070, medical services involving examination, diagnosis, treatment, prevention, medical consultation or administration that are provided by health professionals are exempt from competitive solicitation. Dr. Fraunfelter has provided medical oversight for Ocala Fire Rescue for several years.
Staff recommends approval.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$110,000 for the initial two-year contract term with two optional, one-year renewals. Funds are budgeted in account #001-019-019-522-52-34010.
PROCUREMENT REVIEW:
These services were procured in compliance with the City’s Procurement Policy.
LEGAL REVIEW:
This Agreement will be reviewed and approved for form and legality by City Attorney, William E. Sexton.
