BACKGROUND:
After a competitive solicitation, City Council awarded the contract for specialty grounds maintenance services to Southern Lawn Care Mid Florida, Inc. ("Southern Lawn Care"), on April 4, 2023 (Contract No. REC/230103). Specialty grounds maintenance services include manicured and more detailed mowing services required for downtown areas and medians. The contract was for an initial term of three years, through March 20, 2026, and offered two one-year renewal terms. The compensation for these services was originally set at an amount not to exceed $196,911.
On January 2, 2025, the City and Southern Lawn Care entered into the First Amendment to the agreement in order to modify the service locations and mowing frequencies and increase the expenditure threshold to $205,000 for the remainder of the initial three-year term.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
Southern Lawn Care Mid Florida, Inc., has met all requirements for the provision of specialty ground maintenance services specified in City of Ocala Contract Number: REC/230103, from March 21, 2023, to present. The Recreation & Parks Department requests for the contract to be renewed for the first of two available one-year renewal terms.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The contract for specialty ground maintenance services will have an annual fiscal impact of $72,600. Recreation & Parks grounds maintenance services are budgeted in the Recreation & Parks Department budget (001-021-120-572-57-34010).
