BACKGROUND:

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, in Fiscal Year 2020-2021, the City appropriated $690,581 in Community Development Block Grant COVID Funding (CDBG-CV3) to be used for eligible activities to react to and prevent the spread of the Coronavirus. These funds were appropriated on budget resolutions 2021-111 and 2021-155.

 

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:

The City wishes to enter into an agreement with Boys & Girls Clubs of Marion County to provide touchless drinking fountains, chairs, portable bleachers, purchase and install a SMART Board, laptop computers, an upgrade to the HVAC system, and a used passenger van to provide services for youths located within the City of Ocala. The City will provide up to $140,693 to cover the above proposed project. This activity is consistent with program requirements to prevent and react to the COVID pandemic.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

Administration of this program will provide a positive financial impact to the community. Funds are available in the public services CDBG-CV3 account #346-060-639-559-55-80010.

This agreement will be reviewed for form and legality by City Attorney, Robert W. Batsel, Jr.
