BACKGROUND:
This project consists of engineering design work in preparation of signalization plans and permitting for a new mast arm traffic signal at the intersection of State Road ("SR") 40 and NW 46th/NW 44th avenue, in anticipation of the upcoming NW 44th Avenue Extension project. The NW 44th Avenue Extension project will construct a new four-lane roadway along NW 46th/NW 44th Avenue from SR 40 to NW 11th Street to complete the four-lane corridor from SR 40 to US 27. The City of Ocala ("City") was awarded $8,000,000 by the Legislature of the State of Florida for NW 44th Avenue Extension project.
The Engineering Department contacted Kimley-Horn & Associates, Inc. ("Kimley-Horn") for a proposal for this project under the Agreement for Continuing Professional Engineering Services - Citywide (Contract No.: ENG/210895) approved by City Council on September 20, 2022.
On October 6, 2022, Task Work Order ("TWO") #21 was issued to Kimley-Horn, one of the City's Consultants' Competitive Negotiation Act ("CCNA") continuing professional services consultants under Contract No. ENG/210895, to develop design traffic volumes, signal warrant analysis, and intersection control evaluation with justification for traffic signal on SR 40 at SW 46th/NW 44th Avenue. The Florida Department of Transportation ("FDOT") reviewed and approved the intersection control evaluation and justification for traffic signal on SR 40 at NW 46th/NW 44th Avenue.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
The primary objective of this TWO is to perform structural analysis, lighting design, and prepare lighting and signal plans, specifications...
