body

BACKGROUND:

On April 19, 2022, City Council approved Grant Agreement WG093 with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) for the Citywide Wastewater System Improvement Project (the “Project”).  This Project will allow the City of Ocala (“City”) to extend the wastewater system to the Meadow Oaks (SW 22nd St), Southwind (Lake Weir Ave) and College Heights Park (SW 16th St/Pl) neighborhoods.

This Project will decrease the number of septic tanks around the City and reduce the infiltration of nitrogen to the aquifer, helping the Silver Springs, Upper Silver River, Rainbow Spring Group and Rainbow River, according to the BMAP.

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:

The Project is currently in the construction phase. The City’s Engineering Department has requested an extension of the time for completion from FDEP and this request has been accepted. Amendment No.1 to Agreement WG093 formally memorializes this extension.

Staff recommends approval and authorization for the City Engineer to execute Amendment No.1 and any future amendments to Agreement WG093 which have no fiscal impact.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Amendment No.1 has no fiscal impact. The Project cost and shares remain the same.

PROCUREMENT REVIEW:

Amendment No. 1 has been reviewed by the Procurement and Contracting Officer in compliance with the City policy.

LEGAL REVIEW:

This Agreement will be reviewed and approved for form and legality by City Attorney, William E. Sexton.
