BACKGROUND:
This agreement is for the rejuvenation of streets identified in the City’s Engineering Department
Transportation Rehabilitation and Improvement Program (TRIP).
Rejuvenation is a form of pavement preservation and life extension recommended for paved roads. Asphalt rejuvenation is applied to paved roadways within the first five years of being built and may be reapplied one additional time after the first application to extend the life of the asphalt.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
The City Engineering Department is requesting to enter into a piggyback agreement utilizing a City of Gainesville, Florida, competitive contract with Pavement Technology, Inc. The underlying City of Gainesville contract is in the second year of the first of two possible two-year renewals. The renewal began on August 8, 2023, and continues until September 30, 2025. The Engineering Department estimates the usage of this contract to not exceed $550,000.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$300,000 for this project is budgeted in 091-020-255-541-54-46010, Contract No. CIP/250042. Additional funds will be appropriated as needed.
PROCUREMENT REVIEW:
These services were procured in compliance with the City’s procurement policy.
LEGAL REVIEW:
This Agreement will be reviewed and approved for form and legality by City Attorney, William E. Sexton.
