body
BACKGROUND:
Pursuant to Section 22-425, the City Council shall renew a valet parking service license annually. Mark’s Prime Steakhouse has had an active valet license since 2009, with the current ownership (Ocala Prime Partners Holdings, LLC) taking over in 2022. Since its inception, the operators have only provided valet service to Mark’s Prime Steakhouse customers.
In 2022, the City Council approved a new location at 11 SW Second Avenue to park vehicles once they leave the valet service lane (ramping area as defined in Sec.22-422).
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
The ramping area is approximately 110 feet long along the north side of SW Broadway Street, starting west of the intersection with South Magnolia Avenue. The area is designated as a loading zone for use by multiple businesses until 5 p.m. The privately operated parking lot for valet vehicles has 18 available parking spaces and is located approximately one block west of the restaurant. There are no proposed changes to the ownership, hours of operation (daily, 5 to 10 p.m.), the parking lot, or the ramping area on SW Broadway Street.
The owners of Mark’s Prime Steakhouse recognize the valet requirements, pursuant to Sec. 22-431 of the City of Ocala Municipal Code.
Staff recommends approval of the valet parking service license renewal.
