BACKGROUND:

The main SunTran facility located at 1805 NE 30th Avenue includes administrative, fleet storage and maintenance, and daily functions critical to the operation of the SunTran bus transit system. The main building is approximately 16 years old and needs refurbishment, including new interior and exterior paint, new flooring, new air conditioning system equipment, and upgrades to the plumbing, electrical, and lighting in the facility. In addition, SunTran would like to take the opportunity to improve staff amenities, such as the addition of a quiet room for operators and upgrades to the kitchen hardware and appliances.

 

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:

This task work order will be for the design of architectural and engineering plans required for the desired SunTran facility refurbishment and building renovations. Kimley-Horn is an awarded continuing services engineering firm with negotiated rates for the City of Ocala.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

This project will be funded by Public Transportation Grant Agreement #433304-2-94-01 with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), as amended and approved by City Council on January 18, 2022. The FDOT Public Transportation Grant Agreement provides 100% of the funding for the project; no local match is required. Project services will be paid for using funds from SunTran grant account 494-050-455-544-54-31010.
