BACKGROUND:

On February 4, 2020, the City entered into an interlocal agreement with Marion County to create the Ocala/Marion County Joint Office on Homelessness.  The City entered into a separate Memorandum of Understanding with FL-514 Ocala/Marion County Continuum of Care (CoC) Board for the City to assume the duties and responsibilities of the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) and coordinated entry system.

 

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:

On August 29, 2023, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development issued the Marion County’s CoC 2021-2022 HMIS grant fund to the City of Ocala which serves as the lead HMIS agency for the Marion County CoC. On September 22, 2023, HUD issued the award letter for the grant that allows the grant to be received and appropriated by the City of Ocala. This grant is for expenses incurred to manage the Marion County CoC from September 1, 2022, through August 30, 2023.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

Funding is being appropriated on an accompanying budget resolution found on the consent portion of this same agenda.
