BACKGROUND:

Ocala Fire Rescue applied for and was awarded a grant from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to purchase drones. These new drones will be utilized for everyday responses, special events, fire investigations/inspections, and in joint operations with local law enforcement agencies.

 

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:

Ocala Fire Rescue was awarded a grant of $49,877 from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for the purchase of two Skydio X10 drones. Staff recommends approval.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement will reimburse $49,877 to account 001-334-000-000-09-33122. Grant expenses will be appropriated from account 001-050-948-522-66-64010. No matching funds are required for this grant.

 

PROCUREMENT REVIEW:

These goods were procured in compliance with the City’s procurement policy. 

 

LEGAL REVIEW:

This Agreement has been reviewed and approved for form and legality by City Attorney, William E. Sexton.

BUDGET RESOLUTION 2026-113

 

A RESOLUTION AMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR 2025-26 BUDGET TO ACCEPT AND APPROPRIATE FUNDS FROM THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF LAW ENFORCEMENT FOR THE PURCHASE OF TWO DRONES IN THE AMOUNT OF $49,877

 

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Law Enforcement has awarded grant funds in the amount of $49,877 for the purchase of two drones; and

WHEREAS, the grant to purchase two drones will help Ocala Fire Rescue’s first responders in search and rescue efforts and other emergencies within the City;

WHEREAS, the grant funding will be reimbursed from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement in the amount of $49,877, with no matching funds required from the City.

 

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCALA, FLORIDA, duly assembled in regular session, that the Fiscal Year 2025-26 budget be amended as outlined below to accept and appropriate $49,877 in grant funding from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
