BACKGROUND:

The southwest area of Ocala (Winding Oaks) will have approximately 4,000 new homes that will require access to a centralized sanitary sewer system in the near future. Based on the Wastewater Master Plan of 2019, there is a list of projects to be completed to provide sanitary service to this area. The Lift Station #127 Force Main Upgrade is the next project to be completed on this list. The project consists of installation of approximately 6,000 linear feet of 18-inch force main on SW 48th Avenue. This project was already designed by the Water Resources Engineering division.

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) is granting $500,000 for the installation of approximately 6,000 linear feet of 18-inch force main that will upgrade the lift station #127 force main and will eventually extend the sewer service to the Winding Oaks area. This grant will cover a portion of the total project cost.

FISCAL IMPACT:

FDEP agrees to reimburse the City in an amount not to exceed $500,000 which will be appropriated in account #308-050-367-535-69-65010.
