BACKGROUND: On April 3, 2024, the Ocala Municipal Arts Commission (OMAC) met and voted to approve the following grants:
Sean Thomas, CEO/Musical Director, presented a request for a $2,500.00 grant for the International Jazz, Art & Blues Festival Ocala to assist with operating costs. Ocala Steel Orchestra, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
Local artist Jordan Shapot presented a request for a $5,000 grant for a public art mural with HCA Florida Hospital to assist with the material costs of the mural project.
OMAC will be holding one more meeting in Fiscal Year 2023-24 to consider new grant applications. It may award up to an additional $2,500 in grants at this meeting.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS: There are currently insufficient funds within expense account 001-016-138-579-57-81010 to distribute the OMAC-approved grant amounts. There is currently $14,937.23 in the OMAC revenue account, 001-334-000-000-09-33718. The funding from the revenue account must be appropriated to pay for the two approved grants and up to $2,500 in additional grants.
FISCAL IMPACT: All OMAC grant funds are received from the Florida Arts License Plate Program throughout the year and kept in revenue account 001-334-000-000-09-33718. Grant funding will be expensed from account 001-016-138-579-57-81010.

BUDGET RESOLUTION 2024-1XX
A RESOLUTION AMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR 2023-24 BUDGET TO APPROPRIATE FUNDING FROM THE FL ARTS LICENSE PLATE PROGRAM FOR OCALA MUNICIPAL ARTS COMMISSION GRANTS IN THE AMOUNT OF $10,000
WHEREAS, on April 3, 2024, the Ocala Marion Arts Commission (OMAC) approved grants totaling $7,500; and
WHEREAS, OMAC can approve one additional grant totaling $2,500; and
WHEREAS, the $10,000 is available in the FL Arts License Plate Program revenue account.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCALA, FLORIDA, duly assembled in regular session, that the Fiscal Year 2023-24 budget be amended as outlined below to appropriate funding as follows:
