BACKGROUND:
The Police Trust and Agency Fund was created to deposit revenues received from federal, criminal, administrative, or civil forfeiture proceedings. Funds will be used to purchase a DynaLoc Type 2 Explosive Storage Outdoor Magazine with a padlock in the amount of $6,862, a NexGen K9 training kit in the amount of $2,750, and approximately $3,000 will be used to purchase ice cream and related supplies for the Ocala Police Department’s Polar Patrol for community-related events.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
The allocation of funding from the Police Trust and Agency Reserve for Fund Balance account into the proper Trust Fund expense accounts will allow adequate spending for Fiscal Year 2025-26.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The transfer of funds will enable the agency to utilize the accumulated funds to account 610-018-808-521-52-52010. Funds within the Trust Fund account will help offset expenses coming from division-related accounts.

A RESOLUTION AMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR 2025-26 BUDGET TO APPROPRIATE FUNDS FROM THE POLICE TRUST AND AGENCY FUND RESERVE FOR FUND BALANCE FOR THE PURCHASE OF CRIME PREVENTION SUPPLIES IN THE AMOUNT OF $12,612
WHEREAS, the designated account in the Police Trust and Agency Fund was created to deposit revenues received as a result of federal, criminal, administrative, or civil forfeiture proceedings; and
WHEREAS, the Ocala Police Department requires equipment and supplies to enhance operational efficiency and better serve the community; and
WHEREAS, funds are requested to purchase an explosive storage solution with a padlock in the amount of $6,862, a K9 training kit in the amount of $2,750, and approximately $3,000 to purchase ice cream and related supplies for the Ocala Police Department’s Polar Patrol for community-related events; and,
WHEREAS, the utilization of $12,612 in funds will enhance both public and police safety through the allocation of funding.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCALA, FLORIDA, duly assembled in regular session, that the Fiscal Year 2025-26 budget be amended as outlined below:
