BACKGROUND:

The City of Ocala is a participating jurisdiction in the Marion County HOME Consortium. It receives an annual allocation of HOME Investment Partnership Program (HOME) funds to create and sustain affordable housing units, assist first-time home buyers, and support other eligible housing activities for low- to moderate-income households in the City of Ocala. The U.S. Housing and Urban Development guidelines, including encumbrance and expenditure deadlines, govern the funds.

 

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:

An award letter from the Marion County Board of County Commissioners acknowledging the City’s funding of $255,186 for Fiscal Year 2025-2026 was received on March 4, 2026. Staff recommends approval.

BUDGET RESOLUTION 2026-133

 

A RESOLUTION AMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR 2025-26 BUDGET TO ACCEPT AND APPROPRIATE FUNDING FOR THE CITY OF OCALA'S HOME PROGRAM IN THE AMOUNT OF $255,186

 

 

WHEREAS, the 2025-26 HOME award letter was received on March 4, 2026, from the Marion County Board of County Commissioners; and

 

WHEREAS, the City was appropriated funding for Fiscal Year 2025-26 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) through the Marion County Consortium to improve neighborhoods and provide decent housing with a special focus on serving low- and moderate-income persons; and  

 

WHEREAS, the City was appropriated funds for Fiscal Year 2025-26 in the amount of $255,186 from Marion County for the HOME program.

 

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCALA, FLORIDA, duly assembled in regular session, that the Fiscal Year 2025-26 budget be amended as outlined below to appropriate $255,186 to carry out activities as outlined by HUD.
