BACKGROUND:

Virwa, Inc., doing business as (dba), Spot on Liquors, is requesting a permit for the sale of beer, wine, and liquor at 1500 W Silver Springs Blvd, Unit 1 (Parcel 28520-000-00).

                     Police Presence:                     There have been 105 calls for service at the location, 1500 W. Silver Springs Blvd (entire plaza) during the past two years, the majority of which are self-initiated security calls.

                     Request:                     The purpose of this request is for approval of a State 3PS alcohol permit to allow the sale of beer, wine, and liquor for off-premises consumption for Virwa, Inc., dba Spot on Liquors. The hours will be Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Friday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., with Sundays being closed. (Code of Ordinances Section 6-5 limits the hours and times during which alcoholic and intoxicating beverages may be sold, consumed or served, or permitted to be served or consumed, in any place or on any premises defined as a business establishment as follows: for each day of the week except Sunday, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 2 a.m. the following days. On Sunday, Alcoholic beverages may be sold for consumption on the premises only, between the hours of 11 a.m. and 2 a.m. on Monday; and beer, ale, and wine may be sold in sealed containers for consumption off the premises only, between the hours of 7 a.m. on Sunday and 2 a.m. on Monday.)

 

                     Staff Comments: Comments were requested from Growth Management, Police, and Fire Departments, and legal review by the City Attorney. No comments or objections were received. 

 

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS: This request is for a provisional location permit, subject to the applicant satisfying the requirements of the City’s Code of Ordinances Section 6-32(d) to obtain their appropriate state-issued license. 

 

Proximity to schools, churches, and daycare centers: There is one within the 500-foot radius -Intimacy House of Prayer

 

Proximity to other Alcohol Beverage Establishments: There are none within the 500-foot radius.
