BACKGROUND:
The City of Ocala is recognized as a federally entitled community based on its population and, therefore, receives an annual allotment of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding. The funding for Fiscal Year 2024-2025 has been awarded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
HUD has awarded the City of Ocala $501,396 to carry out programs through CDBG that improve neighborhoods, provide decent, safe, and affordable housing, and create economic opportunities with a special focus on serving low- and moderate-income level persons.
CDBG funding will be expended through strategies approved in the 2024-2028 CDBG Consolidated Plan. The funds are governed by HUD guidelines, including encumbrance and expenditure deadlines.

A RESOLUTION AMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR 2024-25 BUDGET TO APPROPRIATE THE CITY OF OCALA’S 2024-25 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT ALLOCATION TOTALING $501,396
WHEREAS, the City of Ocala is recognized as a federally entitled community based on its population and therefore receives an annual allotment of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded the City of Ocala $501,396 to carry out programs through CDBG that improve neighborhoods, provide decent, safe, and affordable housing, and create economic opportunities with a special focus on serving low-and moderate-income level persons.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCALA, FLORIDA, duly assembled in regular session, that the Fiscal Year 2024-25 budget be amended as outlined below to appropriate $501,396 to carry out activities as outlined in the City’s 2024-2028 Consolidated Plan.
