BACKGROUND:

On or about August 16, 2016, the Revitalization Strategies Division, now known as Community Programs, finalized a rehabilitation project for Thelma McQueen, an elderly, low-income household whose real property is located at 1669 SW Fifth St., Ocala, FL. The project was completed using funding from the State Housing Initiative Program (SHIP) grant. The amount of the deferred mortgage was $19,917.50. Ms. McQueen passed away in July 2019.

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:

On or about April 12, 2024, Community Programs was contacted concerning the payout amount of the McQueen deferred mortgage through May 31, 2024. On or about May 24, 2024, the Community Programs received a check for the balance of the deferred mortgage in the amount of $14,025.32. Staff recommends this amount be received via the proposed budget resolution and added to the Fiscal Year 2023-24 SHIP budget to further assist low-income families with approved housing rehabilitation activities.
