BACKGROUND:
The Ocala Police Department has been awarded $3,956 in grant funds to support school safety initiatives in private schools. The grant will support overtime hours for school safety initiatives, enabling our team to work closely with private schools to enhance their safety and security measures.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
Grant funding will be utilized for overtime hours. These resources will facilitate partnerships with private schools, allowing us to provide critical support and expertise in enhancing their safety and security measures.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The $3,956 award will support overtime hours. No match is required. Funds will be housed in accounts numbered 001-050-847-521-52-14010 and 001-050-847-521-52-21010. All additional funds associated with benefits will be paid from the 001-018-830-521-52* account. Munis Contract# 250361.

BUDGET RESOLUTION 2025-134
A RESOLUTION AMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR 2024-25 BUDGET TO ACCEPT AND APPROPRIATE FUNDS FROM THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF LAW ENFORCEMENT FOR THE SCHOOL SECURITY ASSESSMENT GRANT PROGRAM IN THE AMOUNT OF $3,956
WHEREAS, the Ocala Police Department was awarded a grant from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to support school safety initiatives; and
WHEREAS, the grant funding will be utilized to pay overtime hours for personnel working on school safety initiatives; and
WHEREAS, the funding of this grant will support critical school safety initiatives and enhance the overall safety and well-being of students, staff, and faculty in our community.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCALA, FLORIDA, in regular session duly assembled, that the Fiscal Year 2024-25 budget be amended as outlined below to accept and appropriate $3,956 from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for the purpose of paying overtime operations for the Ocala Police Department.
