BACKGROUND:

On November 9, 2016, the Revitalization Strategies Division, now known as Community Programs, finalized a rehabilitation contract and deferred mortgage with Michele Canney, a low-income household, whose real property is located at 1741 SE 43rd Terrace, Ocala, Florida, 34471. The project was completed using funding from the State Housing Initiative Program (SHIP). The amount of the deferred mortgage was $22,730.

 

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:

On May 8, 2026, Top Quality Title of Ocala, Florida, contacted the Community Programs division to obtain the payout amount on the Canney mortgage with the City. On August 12, 2026, the City received a check in the amount of $22,730 to satisfy the deferred mortgage. This budget resolution will allocate this amount to the Fiscal Year 2025-26 budget for housing activities eligible under the SHIP grant and the City’s Local Housing Action Plan (LHAP). Staff recommends approval.

A RESOLUTION TO AMEND THE FISCAL YEAR 2025-26 BUDGET TO ACCEPT AND APPROPRIATE PROGRAM INCOME FOR THE CITY OF OCALA’S STATE HOUSING INITIATIVE PROGRAM GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $22,730

 

 

WHEREAS, on November 9, 2016, the Revitalization Strategies Division, now known as Community Programs, finalized a rehabilitation contract and deferred mortgage with Michele Canney; and

WHEREAS, on May 8, 2026, Top Quality Title of Ocala Florida contacted the Community Programs division to obtain the payout amount on the Canney mortgage with the City; and

WHEREAS, on August 12, 2026, the City received a check in the amount of $22,730 to satisfy the deferred mortgage.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCALA, FLORIDA, duly assembled in regular session, that the Fiscal Year 2025-2026 budget be amended to appropriate $22,730 to carry out housing activities as outlined below.
