body
BACKGROUND:
The approach end of Runway 36 was recently found not to meet Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) standards for a runway safety area because changes in grade and depressions exceed FAA design tolerances.
The initial Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) grant provided $9,509 toward the City's required local match for the FAA design grant. Subsequently, the FAA has awarded a $406,165 construction grant for the project, which requires a $21,377 local match. Amendment Number One to the initial FDOT grant increases FDOT's participation by $17,102, bringing total FDOT participation to $26,611 and reducing the City's remaining match requirement for the FAA construction grant to $4,275.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
• The Airport Advisory Board supports this project.
• The project is consistent with the Airport Master Plan.
• Staff also requests that the City Council authorize the City Council President to execute the grant.
• Staff recommends approval.
FISCAL IMPACT:
FAA 341-060-769-542-69-65010 $406,165
Airport Match 451-027-769-542-69-65010 $ 4,275
FDOT 341-050-769-542-69-65010 $ 17,102
TOTAL $427,542
