BACKGROUND:

Ocala Fire Rescue (OFR) applied for and was awarded a grant from Firehouse Subs Safety Foundation, Inc. for the purchase of safety equipment.

 

Ten ballistic vests, 20 steel plates, 10 helmets, 20 medical kit pouches, and 10 rifle mag pouches for bulletproof vests are being purchased.

 

The purchase of this safety equipment will help protect our firefighters who assist with specific types of emergencies.

 

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:

                     OFR was awarded a grant from Firehouse Subs Safety Foundation, Inc. in the amount of $13,132.80 with no matching funds required.

                     This grant will allow OFR to purchase safety equipment for firefighters assisting with specific types of calls.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Firehouse Subs Safety Foundation, Inc. will reimburse the City of Ocala $13,132.80 to account 001-369-000-000-16-36934. Grant expenses will be appropriated from account 001-051-949-522-52-52010.

PROCUREMENT REVIEW:

These goods will be procured in compliance with the City’s procurement policy.

BUDGET RESOLUTION 2024-157

 

A RESOLUTION AMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR 2023-24 BUDGET TO ACCEPT AND APPROPRIATE FUNDS FROM FIREHOUSE SUBS SAFETY FOUNDATION, INC. FOR THE PURCHASE OF SAFETY EQUIPMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF $13,133

 

 

WHEREAS, Firehouse Subs Safety Foundation, Inc. has awarded grant funds in the amount of $13,132.80 for the purchase of safety equipment; and

WHEREAS, the grant to purchase safety equipment will help protect Ocala Fire Rescue freighters when assisting with SWAT calls.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCALA, FLORIDA, duly assembled in regular session, that the Fiscal Year 2023-24 budget amended as outlined below to accept and appropriate $13,133 in grant funding from Firehouse Subs Safety Foundation, Inc.
