BACKGROUND:

Fleet is requesting the purchase of replacement vehicles and equipment that have exceeded their useful life.  This purchase is requested in advance of the Fiscal Year 2023-2024 budget to take advantage of current-year pricing.  The recommended departments are listed in the table below:

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:

These purchases will reduce equipment downtime and maintenance costs, and increase efficiency.  Staff recommends approval of these purchases utilizing the Florida Agricultural Lawn & Equipment, Florida Sheriffs Association (FSA), General Services Administration (GSA), and Sourcewell contracts.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The Electric department’s fiscal year 2024 vehicles and equipment replacement costs total $795,372.  The Public Works department’s fiscal year 2024 vehicles and equipment replacement costs total $1,738,317.  Funding is available in various reserve accounts and will be transferred to the corresponding Machinery and Equipment accounts below:

BUDGET RESOLUTION 2023-154

 

A RESOLUTION AMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR 2022-2023 BUDGET TO TRANSFER FUNDS FROM VARIOUS RESERVE FUNDS TO SUPPORT THE REPLACEMENT PURCHASE OF 22 VEHICLES IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,533,689

 

 

WHEREAS, staff recommends the purchase of 22 replacement vehicles; and

WHEREAS, the total replacement cost is $2,533,689; and

WHEREAS, the funding for the replacement vehicles will be transferred from various Reserve for Contingency accounts to their corresponding Machinery and Equipment accounts; and

WHEREAS, these replacement purchases will utilize the Florida Agricultural Lawn & Equipment, Florida Sheriffs Association (FSA), General Services Administration (GSA), and Sourcewell awarded contracts.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCALA, FLORIDA, duly assembled in regular session, that the FY2023 budget be amended as outlined below:
