BACKGROUND:
The Greg Graham Legacy Foundation (GGLF) focuses on supporting initiatives that promote public safety, youth development, and mental health awareness in Ocala/Marion County. GGLF is donating $8,000 to assist the fire department in providing scholarships to recruit individuals into the fire service and reduce vacancies.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
GGLF is generously donating $8,000 to a scholarship fund. This scholarship will be awarded annually. Recipients will attend Marion Technical College for the Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technician program. The donation from GGLF will address the need for technical career development in our community and encourage local talent to stay in Ocala.

These funds will be deposited into Fire’s general ledger account 001-019-911-522-52-40010.

A RESOLUTION AMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR 2022-2023 BUDGET TO ACCEPT A DONATION FROM THE GREG GRAHAM LEGACY FOUNDATION TO OCALA FIRE RESCUE FOR FIREFIGHTER RECRUITMENT SCHOLARSHIPS IN THE AMOUNT OF $8,000
WHEREAS, The Greg Graham Legacy Foundation is generously donating $8,000 to Ocala Fire Rescue for recruitment training; and
WHEREAS, the donation will help send awarded recipients annually through the Firefighter/Emergency Technician Program at Marion Technical College; and
WHEREAS, this donation will help career development in our community and encourage local talent to stay in Ocala.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCALA, FLORIDA, duly assembled in regular session, that the City of Ocala shall accept the donation of $8,000 from the Greg Graham Legacy Foundation.
