BACKGROUND:
The Marion County Builders’ Association will hold a fundraiser (“King of the Wing”) at Citizen Circle on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, from 5 to 8 p.m. that will benefit the Advocacy Resource Center Marion, Inc. The event will include food vendors on SE Osceola Ave and E Fort King St. The Marion County Builders’ Association will apply for a permit with the state to have beer and wine on SE Osceola Ave and E Fort King St.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
Section 6-7(b) of the Code of Ordinances, City of Ocala, Florida, provides an exception to allow for possession and consumption of alcoholic beverages on streets, sidewalks, and public parking facilities for special events.
Section 6-7(b) states that such special events must be recognized and approved by resolution of City Council at a public hearing.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The Marion County Builders’ Association is working with other City departments (Recreation, Public Works, and Engineering) concerning street closures and the Ocala Police Department concerning security during the event.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF OCALA, FLORIDA, PROVIDING FOR APPROVAL BY THE OCALA CITY COUNCIL FOR THE POSSESSION AND CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES (BEER AND WINE) ON SE OSCEOLA FROM SOUTH OF SE BROAWDAY ST TO CITIZEN CIRCLE AND ON E FORT KING ST FROM WEST OF THE PARKING GARAGE ENTRANCE TO SE FIRST AVE FOR A FUNDRAISER SPONSORED BY THE MARION COUNTY BUILDERS ASSOCIATION (“KING OF THE WING”) AT CITIZEN’S CIRCLE (SE OSCEOLA AVE) ON TUESDAY, MARCH 28TH, 2023 FROM 5:00 PM TO 8:00 PM

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCALA, FLORIDA, in regular session duly assembled as follows:
that the Marion County Builders’ Association will hold a fundraiser (“King of the Wing”) at Citizen Circle (SE Osceola Ave) that includes a street closure (on SE Osceola Ave from South of SE Broadway St to Citizen Circle and on E Fort King St from West of the parking garage entrance to SE First Ave) for beer and wine sales on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm that will benefit the Advocacy Resource Center Marion, Inc.
