BACKGROUND:
On August 3, 2024, Tropical Storm Debby strengthened into a hurricane before landfall on Florida’s Coast. On August 4, 2024, President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. approved an emergency declaration for Florida. On August 7, 2024, Governor Ron DeSantis approved Executive Order 24-158, declaring a statewide emergency due to Hurricane Debby. Furthermore, on August 2, 2024, Marion County requested a declaration of state of local emergency due to the threat of harm to human life and property from the possible impact of Hurricane Debby.
