body
BACKGROUND:
The City of Ocala secured funding through the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP), Project No. DR-4337-424-R, as approved by the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), to improve and protect the sanitary sewer system against storm events. The objective is to ensure the continuous operation of wastewater lift stations during power outages.
The project improvements include the installation of emergency generators, transfer switches, and electrical components at critical lift stations. These upgrades aim to mitigate storm-related damages, reduce the risk of sanitary sewer overflows, and protect public health and the environment during severe weather events.
While most generators will be diesel-powered, some will be connected to natural gas service to ensure a continuous and reliable fuel supply.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
A natural gas-powered generator will be used at Lift Station No. 125, which requires extending approximately 1,400 lineal feet of gas main on SW 42nd Street. This Gas Service Agreement is required for TECO People Gas System, Inc. to provide construction services for the gas main extension and connection to Lift Station No. 125.
Staff recommends approval of this Agreement and authorization for the City Manager to execute the agreement.

Funding for this agreement is available in account string 308-030-372-536-69-65010 in the amount of $84,107.
