BACKGROUND:
The City of Ocala requires the services of an experienced Contractor to provide demolition services for the Tuscawilla Park Alum Stormwater Treatment System equipment demolition. The project consists of demolishing the existing alum stormwater treatment system equipment located at Tuscawilla Park. The existing building containing the equipment will be preserved as well as the existing water and power connections. The equipment is located on the south side of parcel #28220-000-00 on NE 3rd Street.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
On February 27, 2026, the City of Ocala issued Invitation to Bid (ITB) No.: CIP/260395 for the Tuscawilla Alum Treatment System Removal Project. On April 3, 2026, two vendors responded to the solicitation on a unit price bid as follows:

A&A Trucking & Excavating was found to be the lowest responsive and responsible bidder at $52,468.70. Staff requests a 10 percent contingency of $5,246 to allow the City Engineer to issue change orders to cover unforeseen conditions and other issues that may arise during construction. With the contingency, the total project budget is not to exceed $57,714.70.
Staff recommends awarding the contract for the demolition of the Tuscawilla Alum Treatment System Removal Project to A&A Trucking & Excavating.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding for this project is available in the Fiscal Year 2025-26 budget, under account string 158-020-343-538-69-65010, in the amount of $57,715.
PROCUREMENT REVIEW:
These goods and services were procured in compliance with the City’s Procurement Policy.
LEGAL REVIEW:
This Agreement will be reviewed and approved for form and legality by City Attorney William E. Sexton.
