BACKGROUND:
The City of Ocala is recognized as a federally entitled community based upon its population and therefore receives an annual allotment of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding. The funding for Fiscal Year 2023-24 has been awarded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
HUD has awarded the City of Ocala $496,815 to carry-out programs through CDBG that improve neighborhoods; provide decent, safe, and affordable housing; and create economic opportunities with special focus on serving low-and moderate-income level persons.
CDBG funding will be expended through strategies approved in the 2019-2023 CDBG Consolidated Plan. The funds are governed by HUD guidelines, including encumbrance and expenditure deadlines.

A RESOLUTION AMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR 2023-24 BUDGET TO APPROPRIATE THE CITY OF OCALA’S 2023-2024 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT ALLOCATION TOTALING $496,815
WHEREAS, The City of Ocala is recognized as a federally entitled community based upon its population and therefore receives an annual allotment of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding; and
WHEREAS, HUD has awarded the City of Ocala $496,815 to carry-out programs through CDBG that improve neighborhoods; provide decent, safe, and affordable housing; and create economic opportunities with special focus on serving low-and moderate-income level persons.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCALA, FLORIDA, duly assembled in regular session, that the Fiscal Year 2023-24 budget be amended as outlined below to appropriate $496,815 to carry out activities as outlined in the City’s 2019-2023 Consolidated Plan.
