body
BACKGROUND:
The City was awarded a second Community Development Block Grant-Corona Virus (CDBG-CV) grant in February 2021. The City’s Community Programs Division identified three sub-recipients with which to partner and carry out approved activities. The organizations were Meals on Wheels, The Boys and Girls Club, and the Ocala Metro Chamber and Economic Partnership (CEP).
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
When the CEP opted not to implement a second micro-loan program with the City, the opportunity to partner with Greater Ocala Community Development Corporation (GOCDC) presented itself. GOCDC will identify and qualify micro businesses, consisting of one to five employees, negatively impacted during the COVID pandemic. $195,000 of grant funding will be available to micro businesses that operate within the City of Ocala. Funding will be provided to maintain jobs, create jobs, or expand business capacity. A maximum of $25,000 per entity will be awarded. $5,000 will be granted to GOCDC for administrative fees.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$200,000 funded from CDBG-CV Grant 346-060-639-559-55-80010.
PROCUREMENT REVIEW:
Services received by grant are exempt from formal competitive solicitation requirements under Procurement Policy No. PRO-070. This Agreement has been reviewed by the Procurement and Contracting Officer in compliance with the City’s Procurement Policy.

This Agreement will be reviewed and approved for form and legality by City Attorney, William E. Sexton.
