body

BACKGROUND:

This grant will fund the design and construction of an access road to serve the A9 development area at the Ocala Airport. This access road will provide unsecured streetside access to the various developable parcels associated with the A9 area. Eventually, it will also house the proposed joint-use (structural and airport) fire station #9.

The A9 development opportunity is currently advertised through an invitation to negotiate process.  Ideally, the site will facilitate privately built hangars between 10,000 and 20,000 sq ft.

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:

The project will be designed in-house by the City Engineer.

The Airport Advisory Board has expressed its support for the project.

The project is consistent with the Airport Master Plan.

Staff will coordinate design and construction activities with adjacent leaseholders.

The corresponding Budget Resolution is also on this agenda.
