BACKGROUND:
The current transfer switch has failed to transfer power to the generator on several occasions. The current switch was installed during the original construction of the building. Staff is working with Facilities to replace the existing transfer switch. City Facilities has proposed the following budget:

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
The transfer switch is essential to the operations of the Ocala Police Department. The City’s 911 Operations relies on generator power during power outages.

A RESOLUTION AMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR 2022-2023 BUDGET TO TRANSFER FUNDS FROM THE INFRASTRUCTURE SURTAX RESERVE FOR FUND BALANCE TO SUPPORT REPLACE A TRANSFER SWITCH FOR THE OCALA POLICE DEPARTMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF $60,643
WHEREAS, the current transfer switch was part of the original construction of the building in 1999 and has failed to transfer power to the generator on several occasion; and
WHEREAS, the City’s 911 operations relies on power to process emergency calls for service.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCALA, FLORIDA, duly assembled in regular session that the Fiscal Year 2022-2023 be amended as outlined below to appropriate $60,643 for replacement of the Ocala Police Department’s transfer switch.
