BACKGROUND:
The Police Trust and Agency Fund was created to deposit revenues received from federal, criminal, administrative, or civil forfeiture proceedings.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
The Ocala Police Department will enhance both public and police safety by using $13,300 to purchase a dual-purpose K-9.
Staff recommends approval.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The transfer of reserve funds will enable the agency to utilize the accumulated funds to 610-018-808-521-68-67010 (Collections/Other Fixed Asset) to purchase a dual-purpose K-9.

A RESOLUTION TO AMEND THE FISCAL YEAR 2025-26 BUDGET TO APPROPRIATE FUNDS FROM THE POLICE TRUST AND AGENCY RESERVE FOR FUND BALANCE TO PURCHASE A DUAL-TESTED PURPOSE K-9 IN THE AMOUNT OF $13,300
WHEREAS, the Police Trust and Agency Fund was created to deposit revenues received from federal, criminal, administrative, or civil forfeiture proceedings; and
WHEREAS, funds are available for use in the Reserve for Fund Balance account; and
WHEREAS, the purchase of a dual-tested purpose K-9 is an appropriate use of these funds and will enhance operational efficiency and better serve the community.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCALA, FLORIDA, duly assembled in regular session, that the Fiscal Year 2025-26 budget be amended as outlined below:
