BACKGROUND:
The City of Ocala is recognized as a federally entitled community based on its population and, therefore, receives an annual allotment of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding. The funding for Fiscal Year 2025-26 has been awarded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
HUD has awarded the City of Ocala $510,378 to carry out programs through CDBG that improve neighborhoods, provide decent, safe, and affordable housing, and create economic opportunities with a special focus on serving low and moderate income level people and households.
CDBG funding will be expended through strategies approved in the 2024-2028 CDBG Consolidated Plan. The funds are governed by HUD guidelines, including encumbrance and expenditure deadlines. The appropriate budget resolution appears as a separate agenda item.
Staff recommends approval.
